You see the final photos—those dreamy, emotional, perfectly timed shots. But what goes into capturing a wedding day from beginning to end? Spoiler alert: It’s not just snapping a few pics and calling it a day.
At FBM Studios, every wedding we shoot is a full-on experience, and we treat it like the once-in-a-lifetime event it truly is. So, want a peek behind the scenes? Here’s what a real wedding day looks like through our lens. 📷
☀️ Morning: Prepping + Packing
The day starts early. I’m up reviewing the wedding timeline (again!), checking weather updates, and loading the gear. I pack extra memory cards, backup batteries, multiple lenses, and sometimes even snacks (because your girl needs energy, okay?).
Before I leave, I take a moment to ground myself. Deep breath. Today, I get to document a love story—and that’s something I never take for granted.
👰 Midday: Details + Getting Ready
Once I arrive, it’s all about the little things first—rings, shoes, invites, perfume bottles. These details tell the story just as much as the big moments do.
Then it’s off to the getting-ready suite. Laughter, nerves, music, champagne—it’s always a vibe. I move around quietly, capturing candids, touching moments between the bride and her besties, and the quiet pause before the dress goes on.
🕒 Afternoon: The First Look + Ceremony
If the couple’s doing a first look, I set the scene and give them space to just be. That moment? It’s magic. Real, raw emotion that hits you every time.
Then, it’s go-time. The ceremony. I’m in stealth mode—moving with intention, capturing glances, happy tears, and everything in between. I work with the light, angles, and emotion to freeze each second into something timeless.
🌅 Golden Hour: Portraits + Candid Magic
Right after the ceremony, I whisk the couple away for portraits. This is where the light is golden and the love feels real. I give just enough direction to make them feel natural, but the goal is always authenticity.
And yes—this is also the part where I might lay on the ground, climb something, or chase the sun like a crazy person. All in the name of the shot!
💃 Evening: Reception + Real Moments
By the time the party starts, I’ve been shooting for hours—but I’m still locked in. Speeches, cake cutting, first dances, wild dance floor moments—I catch it all.
This is when I get creative with lighting, slow shutter shots, reflections—anything to capture the energy and fun of the night. The dance floor is where I really let loose (behind the camera, of course 😉).
🌙 Night: Backups + Gratitude
Once I’m home, it’s backup time. I copy every file to multiple drives before I even think about sleeping. These moments are priceless, and I protect them like treasure.
And finally, I scroll through a few previews. Just a peek. Even after all these years, I still get butterflies seeing the love we captured.
Being a wedding photographer is equal parts artist, planner, problem-solver, and hype woman. It’s not always glamorous (hello, sore feet and sweat), but it’s so worth it. Because at the end of the day, I get to give couples the gift of forever.
